My name is Chad.
Looking back, I don't think my life has been guided by plans. It's been guided by what wouldn't leave me alone.
After high school, that was custom cars. I loved taking an idea and turning it into something real. I thought I'd do that forever.
Then another pull showed up. Working with young people. It didn't make much sense. But I couldn't ignore it.
So I followed it.
Working with young people eventually grew into a community garage. Cars were never really the point. They gave us something real to work on together.
Over time, I realized that's often how people grow. Not by talking about life. By working on something that matters to them.
Years later another pull appeared. My family and I left Canada, bought a used RV, and moved to California. We're still living in that RV.
Again โ no complete plan. Just something that wouldn't leave me alone.
Looking back, I see a pattern. Life keeps putting things in front of us. Sometimes they're invitations. Sometimes they're challenges. Sometimes they're the very things we'd rather avoid. Either way, they keep showing up.
For a long time I believed growth came from finding better answers. Now I think it comes from working honestly with what's already in front of us.
The people who've changed my life most weren't the ones who solved my problems. They created enough trust for me to discover my own next step.
The Workshop grew from that conviction. It's built on a simple belief: life keeps putting things in front of us. We can spend our lives avoiding them. Or we can begin working with them.
Every week we bring the thing that won't leave us alone. Together we work on it. One conversation. One next step. One week at a time.
I don't know exactly what The Workshop will become. I'm discovering that alongside everyone who joins. But I know it's something I can't stop building.
Maybe that's my own answer to the question: what won't leave you alone?
